Cautious Managed consolidates its hold on the top spot

Cautious Managed continued to gain strength as, having outsold Corporate Bonds since September 2009, it retained the top spot in the sales charts according to Cofunds, the independent platform for financial planning.

Q4 saw Cautious Managed firmly seated at the top of the table, accounting for 23.7 percent of sales and three of the top five selling funds (see below). Trailing in second place, Corporate Bonds took 13.9 percent of sales, almost half of the proportion of sales it attracted in Q3.

GEM also re-emerged in the top 10 having spent the last 18 months down the table, taking 3.9% of sales with inflows into funds such as Lazard Emerging Markets.

Michelle Woodburn, Business Development Manager – Fund Managers, Cofunds said of the latest sales trend data: “Quality funds in the Cautious Managed sector and an increasing diversity of fund houses has meant that the popularity of this sector has not faltered.  Its dominance at the top of the charts has, however, seen other sectors such as North America and Equity Income drop out of the top 10 on the platform. On a smaller scale, it remained a positive story for Property and GEM, the former just reaching into the top 5 with Aviva and M&G funds leading the way.”
